Mother's ... what a special gift they are!

It is quite difficult to keep track of all the holidays, anniversaries and celebrations in particular when they change date every year…. we are talking about Mothering Sunday which has been celebrated in England since the 16th century.

Everything here has a history that goes back centuries …. I love all these traditions and the fact that Brits are able to keep up with them. Traditions make us who we are!

Do you know why Mother’s Day date changes every year? It is due to its link to Easter, which is different each year as it is determined by the lunar calendar.

This Christian festival is celebrated 3 weeks before Easter Sunday and it was originally the day when Christians went to visit their ‘Mother Church’, the church were they were baptised as children.

Initially, on Mother’s Day, servants were given a day off to return to their villages and be reunited with their families. Today is a day to show appreciation to mothers and mother figures like grandmothers, step-mothers and mothers-in-law all around the world.

There are no rules regarding to what to give however, many people start the day making a lovely breakfast for their mothers to be eaten in bed, followed by cards, chocolate and flowers ...

So, let’s celebrate and bring to our generous, caring and loving mothers something very special this year. Let’s celebrate with flowers however, this year present her with a unique jewellery flower piece.

Please see below some inspirations for you …

And now, let's honour this beautiful festival. I love you Mum!
